Guess what, around 3-4 lakhs engineers graduate in different disciples every year and only a low percentage of students actually get a job in an engineer position. That’s because these people are not skilled enough to be considered as an engineer. A person simply cannot be called as an engineer if he/she doesn’t possess necessary skills to be one. Therefore, many Engg graduates end up working at a BPO, Call centers and software firm irrespective of their field. Until and unless they are from reputable institutes and done any masters/Ph.D. in their field.
Engineers Offer a Bright Future: Looking at the rising popularity and repeated promises that offer us a great future engineering has just become the mainstream field than a professional subject. Many students do not have a proper mindset about what is the field they would like to choose as their career. So they end up choosing to engineer as a primary subject. This decision may favor a handful of students, but many started to regret it after they start to realize this stream doesn’t interest them. From childhood, we are taught that one should be a professional such as a doctor, lawyer or engineer to be successful in life, other degrees don’t value enough. If you look at the outside world, there are plenty of courses which are not only valuable as engineering but holds much more value to it. Well, many people instead of pushing further studies in their field such as master/Ph.D. They go for management studies like MBA, MCA. Students think that a degree of engineering followed by a degree in management is the best option for career ever. It’s a myth that engineering and management are related. Engineering has nothing to do with management. The main reason can be put as struggle and effort one puts in engineering that he/ she doesn’t want to pursue masters. Engineering Students are the Most Intelligent: Only Engineers are intelligent, this is not true as many people in engineering are clueless when it comes to knowledge. The mainstream culture and the admission process has made the engineering as a bright career option. India produces the largest amount of engineers every year, but only 7-8% gets an actual engineer job. So the intelligence of an Individual defines in this process. Students often don’t understand the subject and end up mugging all the subjects during the exams. We suggest that don’t follow the mainstream engineer culture and do what you like and pursue your passion.
